My Philosophy.

I don't like to follow one way of one philosophy. My goal is to raise Christ centred children and to love one another. I like Charlotte Mason because she seems to fit the mold of following God. I have used unit studies alot as well. I follow my children on how they learn.

I don't believe children under 7 should do alot of formal school work. They learn best when they play. That is why I don't use grammer till they are 9. It is hard on the mom to do everything and the child as well .

I don't like work books so we do alot of narration orally and written. When the child is 10 they have to write one sentence for each paragraph they read from history or science and usually draw a picture with it. When a child is 11 they make and outline like this:

I. First point
A. First supporting point
B. Second supporting point
II. Second point
A. First supporting point
B. Second supporting point.
C. Third supporting point.

When a child is 12 and 13 they will do a 3 level outline:

I. First main pont
A. First supporting point.
1. First subpoint
2. Second subpoint.
B. Second supporting point.
1. First sub point.
2. Second subpoint
II.Second main point.
A. First supporting point
B. Second supporting point.
C. Third supporting point


For example when we study the human body they will have a nice book with illistrations and written work of theier study. Their illustrations will be of the body systems. We try to sing a song to learn the body systems each day as well. That is what is nice about unit study is that you can everyday sing your learning song and focus on it only.

I just love to teach my children about how God has fearfully and wonderfully made us all.
